Ezoic Review: How Ezoic Transformed My Ad Earnings

If you want to make money from your blog, one of the best ways to do that is by joining an ad network. There are lots of them out there and before you join one, you’ll want to research them and find the one that best suits your needs.

WHY I LOVE EZOIC

Income – If you’re using Google Adsense, you can expect to multiply your earnings by at least 2-4 times when you switch to Ezoic ads. This is one of the biggest perks I’ll cover in my Ezoic review.
Support – This is major plus because you’ll most likely need some assistance when setting Ezoic up. Their customer service agents are quick, courteous, and knowledgeable. Every time I email in, I get a detailed response back. Oftentimes, they’ll fix things for me. I’ll talk about this more later in my Ezoic review.
Saves you money – You’ll save hundreds of dollars with Ezoic. Leap, which I talk about below, will save you from buying premium WordPress plugins. The free SSL alone is worth $60 in savings if your host didn’t give you a free SSL.

EZOIC OVERVIEW

The Ezoic platform was started in 2010 by Dwayne Lafleur as a way for bloggers to improve user experience (UX) and earn more revenue. It uses artificial intelligence and driven machine learning to maximize ad revenue while still providing a great user experience for your users.

Ezoic is a Google certified publishing partner that doesn’t withhold its platform to bloggers who don’t get a certain amount of visitors per month. Ezoic has a plan for all traffic levels.

This ad network is designed to work well with WordPress and other content management systems. In this Ezoic review I now want to walk you through five Ezoic features that I believe make this an excellent ad network.

TAG TESTER

Ezoic’s Tag Tester is one of my favorite features I talk about in this Ezoic review. It allows you to test different article title variations. This occurs automatically behind the scenes without you lifting a finger.

Give the tool several title variations for Ezoic to test. It will run them all and record the CTR (click through rate) each title gets. The more titles you give it, the longer the experiment lasts. I recently tested 4 titles and the test took 2 months.

According to Larry Kim, “if you want to move up a spot in the rankings, improving your organic CTR by 3% will do it.” This is why I love this feature so much. A higher ranking on Google will lead to more traffic and more money!

VIDEO PLATFORM

If you use a lot of videos on your site, you’re probably slowing down your site. Ezoic’s video player allows you to host your videos and earn higher revenue from video views. It’s a win-win because you’ll make more money and your site will be faster, which in turn will increase your SEO traffic.

SSL

“Websites need SSL certificates to keep user data secure, verify ownership of the website, prevent attackers from creating a fake version of the site, and convey trust to users.” Kaspersky

An SSL makes your website have https in front of the domain, instead of http. Https is more secure and it’s a Google ranking signal. In other words, you’ll rank better if you have an SSL than if you didn’t. If you don’t have an SSL for your site, Ezoic will provide you with a free one.

SPEED & LEAP

If you’ve been around the block, no doubt you’ve heard that your Google PageSpeed is super important. In May 2020, Google announced that they would start rolling out a new program called Core Web Vitals that would be completely rolled out by August 2021.

Ezoic wants to help all of its publishers excel and have awesome Core Web Vitals. This is accomplished through Leap, formerly known as the Ezoic site speed accelerator. The best part about Leap is that It costs nothing to take advantage of it. Once enabled, it scans your site, plugins, and theme and gives you recommendations on what you can do differently to improve your core web vitals score.

BIG DATA ANALYTICS

Ezoic has an analytics section that is an absolute goldmine of information. If you’re familiar with Google Analytics, you’ll notice a lot of similarities. You’ll want to spend some time looking at all of the different reports that are in there.

These are some of my favorite reports:

Website categories – You can see which website categories have the highest RPM (revenue per thousand impressions).
Top performing content – You can see your top performing content and how much you’ve earned from each page.
Ideal word count – You can see the ideal word count that leads to most of your revenue. For this site, 67.5% of my revenue is from posts that are between 1,000 and 2,500 words.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH EZOIC

I’ve been using Ezoic since January 2021 and I’ve been very happy with it once it was all set up, which is why I wanted to write this Ezoic review. During the set up process, I about gave up on it because I was pulling out my hair.

I’ve made money with Ezoic than I ever did with Google Adsense. Ezoic support has helped me out tremendously along the way. Now, I recommend it to every blogger who wants to make money with their blog.

PROS AND CONS OF EZOIC

I wouldn’t be doing you any favors if I didn’t cover both the pros and the cons in this Ezoic review.

PROS

The biggest pros of Ezoic are that they have great support, pay more than Google Adsense, and that their dashboard is easy to navigate.

SUPPORT

If your site gets more than 10,000 visits a month, you’ll have access to their support. You’ll also receive a dedicated account manger. Every time I’ve emailed, I hear back right away. They resolve my issue quickly and courteously.

Unfortunately, websites that get under 10,000 visits a month, don’t get support. There is, however, a very robust Help Center and a Twist channel that will help you with setting up your account.

PAYS BETTER THAN GOOGLE ADSENSE

When I compare a 7 month timeframe in 2020 to another 7 month timeframe in 2021, my Ezoic earnings were up 317.89%! That means that with Ezoic, we made more than 4 times more money!

EASY TO NAVIGATE DASHBOARD

The dashboard is very minimal and this makes it easy to navigate. You can very easily see how much ad money you’ve made each day. You have the ability to choose a custom date range as well. If you’re in Ezoic Premium, you get a breakdown of how much extra money you’ve made.

CONS

The biggest cons of Ezoic in my Ezoic review are that it is difficult to set up and that ad earnings are not updated in real time.

SET UP PROCESS

Plan to set aside a chunk of time to set Ezoic up. The first time I did it, it took all day. The second time I did it, it didn’t take very long. It is overwhelming at first. Ezoic has lots of articles and videos that show you what to do. I had help along the way from my account manager.

You’ll be using their tag tester to add ad locations to your site. They recommend adding a lot of them. Doing so allows their algorithms to find the right mix for your site to make the most amount of money possible. Make sure you take advantage of their Google Chrome extension to add ad spots.

AD EARNINGS

Ad earnings are not reported in real time. It’s not really a big deal, I’m just really impatient! These numbers are updated for the previous day at 9:30 am PST the following day.

EZOIC PREMIUM

Ezoic has an invitation only monthly subscription program called Ezoic Premium. In essence, you pay a monthly fee and you make more as a result of it. We were invited and we signed up for a 14 day trial of it. During the trial we made extra money like it said so we decided to pay for it.

Fast forward to today, we make more with Ezoic Premium. It’s not a ton more, but we do come out ahead. We think it’s worth it to do. Ezoic premium costs us $44/month and by being on this plan we made about an extra $80-90/month.

As your traffic grows, you’ll get invited to higher levels within Ezoic Premium. I know a blogger who pays $2,000 a month with his Ezoic Premium level and he says it’s worth it as well!

IS EZOIC WORTH IT?

Yes! I wouldn’t write this Ezoic review and recommend it if I thought it wasn’t. With Ezoic, you’ll be able to make more money with your site and improve the amount of traffic your site gets every month. As you grow your traffic, your Ezoic earning potential will grow with it.

HOW DOES EZOIC COMPARE TO OTHER AD NETWORKS?

While there are lots of ad networks out there, the only ones that are worth it are Ezoic, Mediavine, and AdThrive. Ezoic has plans for bloggers below and above 10,000 visitors. Mediavine requires 50,000 visitors a month and they have moved the goalposts several times in the past few years. AdThrive requires 100,000 visitors a month.

Other ad networks use the same exact ad demand as Ezoic, but normally take a 30% revenue share. Ezoic only takes 10%. Additionally, they don’t give you any of the tools I’ve mentioned in this review and they don’t optimize for user experience.

Because of this, Ezoic has seen a lot of publishers leave for a different ad network only to see that their rankings have dropped due to bad user experience, and then return to Ezoic to try and repair the damage.
