Summer heat is rough, so it’s nice to have fun and relaxing things to do inside. We’ve made a list for you of indoor summer activities that will keep you from feeling bored and help you beat the summer heat.
Indoor Summer Activity #1 – Do A DIY Project
DIY projects are so fun to do and then you can take pride in saying that made something. These DIY mini pallet coasters made from popsicle sticks are cute and a really good use of the sticks from all the summer popsicles you eat.
2. Start A Blog
Blogging is a great way to share things and it is a good creative outlet. You can blog for fun or make money from doing it. This 6 step guide will help you get a blog set up.
3. Do A Puzzle
We have so much fun doing puzzles! We especially love to do the Thomas Kinkade Disney puzzles. Our favorite one we’ve done so far was The Little Mermaid one that comes in a 4 pack of puzzles with Aladdin, Winnie the Pooh, and Beauty and the Beast. These puzzles are so pretty and have such cute details of little animals.
4. Declutter Your Home
Antonia from Balance Through Simplicity has some great tips on how to clean and declutter your home. These are really helpful if you aren’t sure how to get started and you want a cleaner house.
5. Try A New Recipe For Dinner
Adam and I have been having so much fun doing more cooking this year and trying new recipes. I started blogging about our favorite recipes, so you can check them out here.
6. Take A Bath
Baths are the most relaxing thing you can do, in my opinion. I love using lavender bath salts in the water when I take one.
7. Paint Your Nails and Toenails
I like to have my toenails painted all year, but especially in the summer since I wear sandals a lot. This is also a fun activity to do with a friend.
8. Try A New TV Show
Finding a new TV show to binge watch is so much fun, especially on a rainy day. If you need some recommendations, these are TV shows that I’ve binge watched and loved:
- The Mindy Project on Hulu
- Love is Blind on Netflix
- The Circle on Netflix
- The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix
- Cheer on Netflix
- Siesta Key on Amazon Prime
- Baby Daddy on Hulu
9. Plant An Herb Garden
If you enjoy cooking or want to do more cooking, then an herb garden is perfect for you. We currently grow basil and are planning to start growing rosemary and cilantro soon. Herbs are pretty easy plants to keep alive. This starter kit comes with pots, seeds, soil, and plant markers. Growing plants is a good thing to learn.
10. Do Some Online Shopping
Sometimes it’s nice to do your shopping in person, but the stores can be really busy in the summer with kids being out of school.
These are my favorite shops to purchase from online:
We used to color a lot with a girl we babysit. We had so much fun coloring with her that we started coloring on our own too. There are tons of adult coloring books that you get to color in. I like these because they have more detail that kids coloring books.
12. Listen To Podcasts
Podcasts are good for listening to while doing dishes or exercising. This list of 21 podcasts has all the best ones for women to listen to. This is a great for if you’re wanting free indoor activities.
13. Have A Movie Marathon
Every now and then it’s so fun to have a relaxing day of watching movie after movie. Our favorite service for watching movies is Disney+. There are a ton of options on here. We can old movies from our childhood or new Disney movies that were in theaters not too long ago.
14. Make Fresh Lemonade
I love the Lemonade all year long, but especially in the summer. Fresh squeezed lemonade is so refreshing. I’ve never made it, but it’s on my bucket list for this summer!
15. At-Home Workout
My favorite way to exercise is to go for a walk. That can be hard in the summer if you’re not able to go early in the morning or late in the evening. Beat the heat by doing an indoor workout. My favorite workout video I’ve ever used is Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown. She’ll get you sweating in no time!
16. Make Smoothies
I love fruit in the summer, and especially fruit smoothies. My favorite fruit to put in smoothies is mango. This mango pina colada recipe from Our Sweetly Spiced Life is perfect for summertime.
17. Read A Book
I go in phases with reading, but when I’m in a phase I love to read. Reading in the bath or while laying in bed is so nice. I like books that are a part of series and my favorite series I’ve read lately is the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before collection of 3 books.
18. Play Video Games
I’ve never really been into video games, but I have a lot of fun playing Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Switch with my husband!
19. Bake A Fun Treat
We’re pretty obsessed with baked goods, and more specifically cinnamon rolls, around here. This recipe from Minimalist Baker is our favorite recipe for cinnamon rolls! They’re easy and super delicious. This is a favorite indoor activity of mine.
20. Play Board Games
Playing a board game is a great family activity. My family would play a lot of Yahtzee, so that’s one of my favorites.
Ideas for fun activities and indoor summer activities for adults can be hard to find, so we hope you liked this list!
